About the Editors

George and Kay White Meyer have been collecting folk art since the early 1970s and ceramic face jugs since 1980.  They are the authors of two other books on art, the Folk Art Bibliography and Personal Sculpture, Folk Art Canes.

The Collection

Through good luck, timing and dogged determination,  the Meyer's have amassed an important and stunning collection of Early American Face Jugs and related pottery.  Their collection includes the largest known private number of period Edgefield Face jugs, as well as significant numbers of face jugs from New York to Georgia to Texas to Illinois.

The Photography

Charlie Nairn,   the award winning photographer from George's earlier book "Personal Sculpture, Folk Art Canes" has done it again.  Charlie has produced stellar photographs for "Early American Face Jugs" after spending hours with each piece, capturing its artistic essence.
